It does remind me of how Anhalt!Sophie, when being asked to convert, was convinced by the argument that while Lutheranism and Orthodoxy had different outward rituals, the beliefs were basically compatible.
Oh, huh, that's very... open-minded and pan-religious of her! My husband-the-Lutheran's ex-girlfriend was (Greek) Orthodox, and they split up in large part because of the difference in religion. Of course, he obviously then went on to date me, so, um. (I suppose what made it work in the end for us is that he and I have in many ways similar approaches to religion, though the actual religions have a lot of differences.)
